I live in Charleston, SC with my family. You can often find my two young daughters and mischievous cat serving as my studio assistants and keeping me company as I create.
I have always been a creative person, but it wasn't until my 30s that I truly fell in love with visual arts. A few courses in modern calligraphy and brush-lettering led to experiments with watercolor, acrylic, alcohol inks, pour painting, resin, journal-making, collage... and much more! I've lucky to have taken some incredible art courses - online from artists around the world, and here in person in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
I use art as a therapeutic practice in cultivating a growth mindset and embracing the present moment, and a form of play that allows me to release perfectionism and tap into my intuition. I identify as an enneagram 4, driven by authenticity, self-expression, and creativity in all aspects of my life.
In my work, you'll notice lots of inspiration from nature and recycled materials. Regardless of medium, I revel in experimenting with a variety of color, texture, and pattern. I love exploring the juxtaposition of organic vs. geometric elements in my work as well!
hire me to teach a class
I love leading arts workshops, and have experience teaching art with teens and adults.
Teaching is one of my passions and strengths. I am a certified, highly qualified teacher with 12 years of experience as a classroom teacher (middle and high school English) and instructional coach (providing personalized professional development to staff). My skills at organizing content, materials, and processes is a huge asset when teaching art.
I am not one of those stereotypical artists who is flighty and disorganized. You can expect a high level of preparation and professionalism, as well as enthusiasm and empathy, from my instruction.
