I'm passionate about incorporating secondhand and upcycled materials into my artwork whenever I can. Not only do these materials add unique texture and history to art, but they help make the art making process itself more sustainable.
I hate to see things going to the landfill when they could be given a new life in art. That's why I dream of bringing a Creative Reuse Center to the Lowcountry. Creative Reuse Centers are a beloved part of the art communities in Savannah, Greenville, Charlotte, and many other cities. Charleston needs one too!
What is a creative reuse center? A CRC typically functions like a thrift store for art & crafts supplies, providing affordable access to materials for makers on a budget. Donations come from businesses as well as individuals. Many are run as 5013c non profits and provide free or low-cost programming for teachers, students, etc.
